These days everything is embedded and everything is connected – it’s the IoT world. Our labs focus on three main categories: basic embedded device testing, low level hardware assessments, and silicon hacking. Our sophisticated tools and methodologies, including Scanning Electron Microscopes and Focused Ion Beam Systems, allow us to detect, analyze, and counteract these threats. By dissecting the chips ourselves, we gain the deepest insights into their operation and vulnerabilities, ensuring that our clients’ technologies are secure from the ground up.

Get an exclusive look at our Seattle Hardware Lab where our services and research takes place. Learn how our advanced equipment can accomplish amazing feats such as our recent win on the RP2350 Challenge from Raspberry Pi where IOActive researchers were able to abstract secrets from a chip using a well-known semiconductor failure analysis technique: passive voltage contrast (PVC) with a focused ion beam (FIB). The strategy to abstract secrets from a chip using this technique was thought to be impossible before IOActive accomplished it.
